About Us:

Since 1997, EDI has been a value-added provider of high quality computer components, systems, servers, and computing solutions. Headquartered in Norcross, Georgia, EDI maintains a presence throughout the eastern United States and many European markets.

At EDI, we recognize that business policies and practices that serve the technology community provide an important business advantage, both for us and our customers. As a prominent distributor of computer components and white-box systems, we affect the communities where we do business. As such, we build quality relationships with clients and develop strong vendor alliances. For us, there are multiple benefits – better financial returns, increased opportunities, more efficient operations, higher employee motivation, and improved goodwill between us, our vendors, and our customers. For our customers, there is a triple bottom line – more efficient service, increased selection, and smart savings.

Leveraging our strengths (accelerated delivery time, affordable pricing, assorted purchase options, and exceptional customer service), we plan to improve product accessibility and affordability, provide innovative solutions, and continuously improve our service and products. To achieve this goal, EDI pursues an individual relationship with each customer and tailors services to meet each customer’s specific needs. By contributing to the success of our customers, we hope to stimulate the use of technology throughout a variety of industry sectors, including schools, government institutions, and corporations.

IMPORTANT: Changes to Windows 7, 8, Server 2008R2 and 2012 - New SKU's and Info

Current Windows 7 SKU's are going away at the end of January.

They are being replaced by new part numbers that are slightly different in the media packaging. In addition, there will be new media-less SKUs for both Windows 7 and Windows 8. These new SKUs will start showing in distribution parts lists December 1st. The new SKUs are listed at the bottom to make it easier for you to prepare for the changes.

Again the SKUs you currently order through distribution for Windows 7 will be going end of life at the end of January so you MUST transition to the new skus.

Server 2008 R2 is changing as well and a media-less option is being added to Server 2012 R2.  (see below)

Important Packaging Changes and New Options for W7, W 8.1, WS 2008 R2 and WS 2012 Effective December 1, 2013

Overview:

To mitigate potential increase in the Cost of Goods Sold (COGS) by Authorized Replicators (AR) resulting from the decline in volume of physical components over the past year, Microsoft is introducing packaging changes and adding a without media option for the ODR channel. The changes include:
1.      Implementation of Low Cost Packaging for Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2.
2.      A new without media option for Windows 7, Windows 8.1, Windows Server 2008 R2, and Windows Server 2012 products.

Details:
1)      Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2 Simplified Packaging
Change of Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2 product packaging to the simplified product packaging used for Windows 8, and Windows Server 2012.

The simplified packaging was introduced with the launch of Windows 8 and Windows Server 2012 and continues with Windows 8.1 and Server 2012 R2 providing significant savings for OEM Distributors in terms of fewer components, simplified production, and freight/shipping cost reduction.

Microsoft is implementing the same simplified packaging configuration for Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2. These SKUs will be listed on the December Royalty List (RL).

Implementation details are as follows:

·         New Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2 simplified packaging and without media SKU’s will be added to the ODR Royalty List effective December 1, 2013.
·         The corresponding current Windows 7 and Windows 2008 R2 SKUs will be removed from the Royalty List effective December 1, 2013
·         OEM Distributors are not required to return any product and can continue to sell through their existing Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2 inventories.

2)      Additional without media option.

An additional without media option is being made available for Windows 7, Window 8.1, Windows Server 2008 R2, and Windows 2012 products.  In the without media package, the media disc and media sleeve have been removed from the product packaging and new COA card has been added.

The without media option pack will support both 32 bit and 64 bit installations.

These without media SKUs will be added to the ODR Royalty List effective December 1, 2013.  The existing SKUs containing media will remain on the Royalty List.  NOTE:  “Without media” option will not be available in German language.

Media fulfillment/Recovery for the without media SKUs
If an end user prefers physical recovery media, partners should order the with media package and ship media with the customer system.   The System Builder/Reseller should be careful to order the correct version of the package based upon their customer needs.

If an end customer receives their customer system without media and later needs media they should contact their System Builder, who can obtain the media using the replacement media process stated in the OEM Partner Center (OPC) website at http://www.microsoft.com/oem/en/salesmarketing/pages/media-replacement.aspx#fbid=VrF931mtcvx
